Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It refers to the obligation of giving a certain portion of a person’s total wealth to purify their wealth. If someone has more than a Nisab amount of wealth, including cash, investments, and property that has been owned for more than a year, he has to distribute 2.5% of the total wealth to the poor and needy.
Zakat is Farz on people with more than Nisab wealth for more than one year. And the year is countable from Ramadan to Ramadan. So it is best to be paid in Ramadan.
Unlike regular Sadaqah, you can’t give zakat to anyone. Zakat is considered as an act of social justice and an important way to alleviate societal poverty and inequality. So, zakat is the right of the less fortunate. According to Quran, 8 categories of people have the right on Zakat- the poor, needy, zakat distributors, newly converted Muslims, and pedestrians. Or you can use the money to free an enslaved person, to repay someone’s debt, or in the path of Allah SWT.
Yes, we accept donations for Sadaqah and distribute them among needy people as a form of food, money, clothes, healthcare, and education. If you want, we can also arrange a feast to feed the people on your behalf of you or use the money for Sadaqah Jariyah so you can be benefited after death as well.
Yes, we accept donations for Aqiqah, and sacrifice Aqiqah animals following the rules as our Prophet instructed. We also distribute the meat in the right way among the orphans, poor and needy people.
An orphan is a child who has lost their living parent, like a father or both parents, through death, abandonment, or other circumstances that leave them without parental care and support. In some cases, we also define orphans if they have one surviving parent who is unable or unwilling to provide adequate care and support.
As we know, any child who lost their guardian or father is an orphan, but not all orphan needs financial help or sponsorship. Some orphans have legal guardians with enough wealth to take care of them after their parent loss to live. So, we select orphans for our sponsorship or other programs depending on the orphan’s financial condition. Those who don’t have someone to take care of or have someone to look after but not enough money to live and education are the ones who are included in our list.
Right now we are only supporting orphans in Bangladesh. As you know Bangladesh is still growing but most of the poor families are still struggle for living. And when a poor family child ( we support only poor orphans) lost his father, he just lost everything. So we are trying to help them in standing on their feet and taking their responsibilities until they become capable. Very soon, when we will have enough resource to spread, we will support other countries orphans as well.
An orphan benefit from our program in many ways. Orphans who are under our sponsorship receive essential items and money each month, so they don’t have to face any difficulties with basic needs, including food, education, medical help, etc. And we also keep updating and tracking their educational and other improvements so we can inform the sponsor about the orphan.
You can support an orphan as long as you want. Most children are considered adults after 18 years, so many sponsors want to care for an orphan until they turn adults. But some sponsors are also there who want to sponsor an orphan until they complete their education or have a way to earn and feed themselves. It’s totally up to you for how long you want to support an orphan. And if you can’t afford it, you can also sponsor a child for a year, two, or five years as well.
